Finally some new pics!

Hello everyone!
Well i have finally found a decent computer to upload some photos to, so here they come...
We are currently in Edinburgh at the moment, last night tonight, and love this city, its awesome!
We went on a FREE 3hr walking tour today, guided by an Aussie whcih was great! We gave her a 2.5 pound tip as well...Jeez we are generous!
If you also look closely at some of the photos you can tell that i've had a shave! If you zoom in about 20000 times you may also see that Joely has had a shave as well!! (In some of the newer photos) haha
Anyways here they come, most are from my new SLR camera:

We went into a fish n Chip shop in Edinburgh, Joely ordered a chicken burger and was promptly asked "would you like a bun with that" we looked puzzled at each other and joely replied "ahh yeh"...She ripped open the roll with her bare hands, whacked a slab of chicken on a bun and handed it over the counter to joel, "That'l be to poun fifty". It was the worst burger Joel has ever had...I thought it was quite funny!

Well, we......aaah.......got a Job.

Using TNT magazine, an essential backpackers magazine distributed all throughout the UK, we contacted Dea Cooper, an employment recruiter for foreigners, specialising in Live-In bar jobs. She gave us a list of positions for Northern Scotland and we made some phone calls. The guy was enthusiastic and agreed to take us on board, much to our surprise.

If your interested in checking out Fort Williams, Scotlands Outdoor Capital, where we will be living, click here. Have a look at some of the pictures. Where we're going is stunning, to say the very least. I think we're going to be Bar staff/Kitchen hands or Waiters. Food and Accomodation is included. Hopefully me and Brad will be Bar Staffing it together on the same shift. Shit that'd be fun. We have a 1 month trial. Bring on the pounds!!!

whats this, a new post???

Helloooo everyone, sorry for the delays in posting, internet has either been way to expensive or in accesible! At the moment i am typing away in Glasgow on shitty keboard! Joely and i have seperated to find internet cafes, i decided to have a browse around the city and i found 3, and joely decided to go to the tourist info centre and ask for help, pffft lets see whos works out better, haha.
Anyways where to begin? We left Dublin a while ago and headed to a place called cork, which was a cooooool place. It had a beautiful uni, which we strolled through the grounds, breathtaken by how beautiful it was! We found a cool little bar with an awesome vibe, so we sat down and had a couple of pints with awesome music playing in the background such as Jeff Buckley and Jose Gonzalas!! That night we also met up with a group of young Irish Lads and lasses from a band at our hostel and kicked on into the night with them visiting a few pubs around cork which was great fun, although i must say Guinness is a CRAP beer to skull!
We also visited the Blarney castle which was a great experience. Such Beautiful countryside as you can tell from the pics, and i mean there is nothing that can compare to kissing a stone that apparantly 'the locals piss on every night'...yeah....The castle its self was full of narrow passage ways and dark underground caves which was an amazing sight to see...And the grounds were full of old willows and streams, if it wasn't for the thousnds of tourists you would feel like you were back in the 15th century!
Apart from that we pretty much bummed our way around cork, seeing things at our leisure (that sounds wankerish) which was great. We then headed to a place called Killarney at the advice from a man in a sandwhich shop in Killarney, as good advice as any we thought, and headed for the small town of Killarney!
We decided to camp and after about 10kms of walking (even though the lady at the info centre said it was a 1mile walk) we arrived, with considerably aged and broken backs, haha, but it was a great walk i must admit! We stayed for three nights at the camp ground paying near hostel prices, but it was a great experience. We were camped next to a small stream with georgeous mountin in the back ground 'ahhh feel the serenity'! The only facilities they had however were a pool table and a kettle, so being boys we lived on soup and played pool...Great fun although i wont touch soup for a while! I think it gave me flactulance according to Joel? haha!
We also Hired bikes in Killarney and went through the Killarney national park, it was one of the best days i have had so far! In total we cycled about 30kms in a combination of mist and rain but it was so beautiful it is hard to describe in words. We cycled arounds a huge lake surrounded by forest, climbed a mountain which had a huge waterfall and were general 'hooligans' on the dirt tracks with our'rent a bikes'. It was great! We also managed to make a beer holder on the backs of our bikes which got a few laughs as we rode past people!
On the Last night in Killarney we stayed in a hostel where we met a few cool people, a couple of Americans and Irish guys. Joely and i only bought about 3 pints each, but the end of the night i was at about 9 pints (thats 6 free pints woohoo) and i was feeling considerably pleased with the world! Crawling into bed in the early hours of the morning I was awoken by joel saying we had to go, we had to catch a bus to Belfast...Damn. So after a couple of hours sleep and a massive massive hangover i trugged out of bed and we made our was to the bus station (Joel carriyng most of the gear)...
About 10.5 hours later and a bit of sleep i was feeling a bit better as we got of the bus in Belfast...One thing we noticed was that the streets were dead! It was about 8pm ish and everything was shut, it was one of the strangest things i've seen it was like a ghost town! A very helpful stranger told us that it was because there was a kerfew to stop illegal drinking by youths, very strange!
We stayed at a pretty cool hostel and just wandered around belfast seeing the sights which was cool! We also wento to the Vital Festival which was one of the main reasons we were in Belfast and it was simply awesome! I have never seen so many people in one place, it was huuge! We saw Albert Hammond Junior and the Shins first which was great and we were in the third row standing in front of the stage which was great! Joely almost wet his pants when the shins came on, haha! Then it was Mark Ronsan, then Kasabian (wh rocked) and then the killers. By the time the Killers came on it was paaaaacked. Thousands of people! We were reasonably close to the stage, jumping up and down being surged foward by the crowed dodging beer cans that were being thrown through the crowd, but it was an awesome awesome experience!!!! The Killers went off!! They got the crowd going too which was great! It was a great night, so much fun and we met alot of cool people, most of whom saif the aussie accent was either 'class' or some even said 'sexy', ahh well we have one thing going for us!! haha
I also bought a nw SLR camera in Belfast as i though mine ws broke (turned out to be the batteries) so now i have two cameras! I also got a free $150 upgrade to the Next model up pentax SLR camera which was cool (long story). I love my new camera haha! Ill try and post some pics up soon (cant from this machine)!
We then took a ferry accross to Scotland and are now in Glasgow. Havent seen to much yet, but from what i have seen looks great. the countryside is beautiful!
Anyways that is all for now, sorry for the long post!
Pictures to come in the next couple of days!
Love to all my amigos, haha

Brad Possesses The Worst Flatulance, Known To Both Man And Beast.

It has been a while since the last time any of us posted. And a lot of you are probably treating this lack of updates as the first indication of our waning interest in maintaining one of the webs most frequently visited Blog sites - but this is untrue.

We're just firstly A) Short on cash - internet access can cost upwards of $AUD10 an hour. And B) We're lazy.

From Cork, which is I think we're we left off - a large Irish town seperated by a toxic brown river, accompanied by an interesting social scene, we headed (under the suggestion of 2 local sandwich bar owners) for the beautiful town of Killarney. Camping was cheap in the past - so why not give that another ago? Sure. You could of imagined our expressions when the lovely Canadian/ Irish (I dont know what nationality she was, she sounded Canadian, but we we're in Ireland...) so you can imagine our expressions when the receptionist ask us for £28.5 . Thats £9.50 a night - for camping. Swallowing hard, our eyes watering from the pain caused in our wallets, we admitted that perhaps we we're in fact saving. Being this far from the main shops in Killarney, there would be less temptation to spend. So, in that light...Sure, it was cheaper. Trying to do it cheap, our meals were mainly Soup, Noodles, Bread Rolls and tuna sandwhiches. And Brad, with a smile, would love looking at you so as to catch your reaction when you smelt his flatulance for the first time. And this flatulance wasn't of any normal callibre. It was something truly horrible. And we were confined to the tent. Normal farts just smell bad, and usually thats it. But Brads lingered, they hung round like they were impervious to neutralising. And Brads, Im sure have caused me some internal damage. Id rather be headbutted by a goat in the abdomen then to have to ever smell one of his farts again - I thought my Dad was bad. He has nothing on Bradley. Nothing!!

On the fourth day in Killarney we decided to stay in a Hostel, as it would be more convenient to catch that bus for Belfast at 9 in the morning than it would 27 miles out (not really, but don't I love to exaggerate) at the campsite. What we didnt anticipate was that it was going to be a big night out. The best nights we find, are the ones that often occur spontaneously. Sitting down in the dining area with 2 pints, soon we're caught chatting to some Irish folk. A Patrick, then Donna and Karl, who we were happy to discover stayed at the very same campsite while we were there. As it gets when your drinking with Irishmen, It started getting serious. There were more beers, then more, then more, then a little more just for good health. The fantastic part was that both Brad and I had stopped buying after the 4th drink, and we had been probably given something closer to the vicinity of a further 4. (Or in Brads case a further 6 or 7.)

It goes black for a little while...then its 7:45 in the morning and I realise that if we dont move now, we're probably not going to make it. Poking Brad in the back he grumbles something similar to the noise a horse makes when it shits while still moving. "NEEeeufff....." Aaand with enough perserverence (oh we were slow to get going), we crossed the road and made our way to the Bus terminal for our trip to Northern Ireland.

Belfast was scary upon arrival. Most people would know Northern Island has always been infamous for the divide between Catholics and Protestants, and so me and Brad were prepared for something a little questionable, something a little testing and upon leaving the Bus depot, what it was we found was that the streets - all the streets were empty. Like they had called an evacuation "Infected Monkeys escape from Zoo - EVERYBODY FLEE!" or that everyone had gone underground to avoid the next wave of bombings. We managed to find another couple of backpackers, Canadians and we shared the same observation. We were all lost, and a friendly Irishmen stopped and asked whether we were alright, admitting we were a little lost, he happily agreed to take us to where we wanted to go. He did, smiled and wished us a happy life, then took off on his own way. Entering the Canadians hostel, and receiving directions for ours, we left not to shortly afterwards and walked the streets basically all alone, except for the odd bum or drunk. We found comfort again at our Hostel, surrounded by people in numbers and the sound of people. We found out later that the reason the streets were empty was due to a strategy the Govt. employed to principally fight crime, violence and drunkedness of the citys youth.

The highlight of Belfast was A) Finding 2 Bill Bryson books in a fantastic 2nd hand bookstore and B) GOING TO A MUSIC FESTIVAL WERE The SHINS and The KILLERS were playing. Needles to point out, B) was the real highlight. The Shins sounded exactly as they do on their CD's which is to say fantastic. Truly an incredible band - especially to sound the same live as they do in studio. Then there was Albert Hammond Jr. (Strokes fame), Mark Ronson, an instrumentalist who does covers of Coldplay and Radiohead (FANTASTIC surprise), Kasabian and of course The Killers. The Killers were the headline, and me and Brad bopped like a couple of groove masters and sex gods. Girls were pouring themselves on us. Well, sort of. Ok not really. But doesn't the story sounds better when I say it like that? One girl almost poured herself on us litereally - she was so drunk she had even lost controls of her voice box. She sounded somewhere between the brakes of a bus being shortly and sharply applied and the squeak of a sneaker on a basketball court. Seeing The Shins play was a seminal moment in this trip for me. I can tell you the Killers were the same for Brad. Incredible putting faces to the music. Turning around (as we made our way to the front of the concert, due to our sneakiness) and stood on our tippy toes, there behind us stood a sea of people, almost to the horizon (or at least to the hamburger stand). And below this see of people was a miniature rubbish pit of beer cups, burger wrappers and chip boxes that did its best to trip you, or tarnish you shoes.

Our final night we spent drinking Cider and reading. My Ears are still ringing from the festival so currently I am boycotting the Ipod. The 35 minute walk to the Ferry, carrying bags that are slowly putting on wait like some junk food addicted moron, was an accomplishment that will forever go unnoticed. The trip, which we thought was the one and only fare, was only a fraction of the journey to Scotland when considering the following train ride we took to Glasgow. Upon disembarking, we were surprised to be charged at the end of our journey, and additional £17.50 ontop of the £23 for the ferry. Now in Scotland, I think the idea is to look for employment. But by the looks of this city so far - (its rougher than a pot scourer) I think I might be looking for employment somewhere else. Somewhere...country.

Hellloooo Peoples, how is everyone???
This will be just a relativly short post with some pics. We are currently staying in a maaaaad hostel (we have our own ensuite, and yes we have actually used it and had showers!!!!!) in Cork for a total of 3 nights, and then the plan is to go camping in a place called Killarney, about 1 hour west of cork!
So far we are having an awesmoe time here in cork. We decided to be "social butterflies" last night and we met up with a group of young Irish guys and gals, some of the guys were in a band, although i can't remember there name, and we drank a few pints in the hostel, made some noise and then hit the streets of Cork for a while, although this morning me and Joely felt it!
Thats enough from me, here are the pics:

Thats right boys and girls...

This is a before shot (Joely actually tried some on, apparantly they are pretty comfortable)

What a way to start the night, good ol booolmers!

Our little pub crawl/stumble..

Well hello hello vivid coolyourthroats readers, haha kidding! Well as all of you know we are in Dublin at the moment, apologies for the last drunken post, we were going to remove it but we thought we would leave it up for a laugh. Dublin is Wicked, the best city we have visited by far! I can't remember where i got at to on the last post but ill start from the other night with our pub crawl!
We met out the front of the famous Trinity College for a 7 Euro pub crawl, including free shots! We were about 20 mins early so we went for a stroll through the college, and i was constantly hearing "oh shit im gonna get hammered" or "oh no i hope i don't chunder again" from Joely, but like the good friend i am i reassured Joely that I would look after him, and that I did :p
We started the night out at a pretty cool little Irish pub, in True Irish custom i had i pint of Guiness, Joely a Bulmer's cider and chatted with the rest of the group, which was a relativily small group but full of awesome people. English, American, Sedish, Polish and Aussie! We also had a free shot of something or other which tasted like it was just cordial (which it may just have been)!
From there we went to another place where we got cheap pitchers of beer, so me and Joely shared one of them (about 10 Euro for three pints, sick!) and played drinking games lead by our awesome tour guide chad!! Also had another pitcher there with Alex and Hannah (dunno if you guys will be reading this or not but hello if you are ;) ) cause Joely wussed out lol.
From there it gets a bit hazy but we went to one place which served a beer called Fruli (Strawberry Beer) which was amazing and then after that we went to an Aussie Pub which was packed full of Brazilians..I think! Managed to get a Carlton Cold there which was sweet! After that we were a little bit, oh i dunno how you say it, Drunk! haha! From there i managed to lead Joely back to the Hostel like a true friend cause he was gone!! ok ok so it MAY have been the other way around, Joely quite possible could have lead me home haha! But yeh was a top night.
Yesterday we had to switch Hostels from our awesome Hostel/Hotel/resort and we are now in a really crap Hostel with 1 shower between 50 people! So it looks like we will have to go another few days without showers. I might go for a swin in the river Liffey for a bit of a wash ;)
We have also had a run in with the Gaurd (police) which was a little weird, i think Joely is writing about it now so i won't say anything except that i am glad i kept my booking receipt which everytime i have entered the Hostel i have been asked for by various people, so in total i reackon i have flashed it about 50000 times, jeezus you think they would be able to remember the faces of two good looking aussie blokes!
After Dublin we are going to a place called Cork and camping there for a week which should be great. We have also bought tickets to a Festival in Belfast on the 22nd August and are going to see 'The Killers' and 'The Shins' which should be awesome. Which means we are heading to Belfast after cork which should be interesting. After Belfast the plan is to catch a Ferry to Scotland (where we will hopefully get jobskis) so i am pretty escited about that too...
I am really getting into photography at the moment so ill post up some more landscape pictures later on! I am restraining myself from buying a digital SLR camera over here until i get a job (which may be soon) but they are soo cheap and wicked cameras! Anyways i will leave it at that, here are some pics to go out on!
Thanks for taking the time to listen to my crap
Cheers
